Configuration tasks for DNS load balancing

To configure DNS load balancing, complete the following tasks:

  1. Enable server load balancing. See Enabling or disabling server load balancing.
  2. Configure the real servers and their IP addresses. See Configuring each real server.
  3. Configure the real servers into groups for TCP and UDP services. See Configuring a real server group.
  4. Configure a virtual server to handle both UDP and TCP DNS server load balance requests. See Configuring a virtual server.
  5. Define and enable the server ports and client ports. See Configuring ports for server load balancing.

    Note Note: Some DNS servers initiate upstream requests and must be configured both as server and client.
