Configure an IP address on a VLAN

To specify an IP address for a virtual routing port:

  1. Verify that the routing is enabled by selecting IP Routing > IP and confirming that Forwarding is selected.
  2. From the Passport Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  3. The Basic tab window opens (Figure 7).

  4. Select the VLAN.
  5. Click IP.
  6. The IP Address tab opens.

  7. Click Insert.
  8. The Insert IP Address dialog box opens.

  9. Type the IP address and netmask.
  10. Click Insert.

    Note Note: You can assign only one IP address to any router interface (brouter or VLAN). Attempting to assign a second IP address returns an invalid IP address error.

    You cannot assign an IP address to a VLAN if a brouter port is a member of the VLAN. To assign an IP address to the VLAN, you must first remove the brouter port member.
