Creating a source MAC-based VLAN (using files)

Note Note: This information applies to Passport 8600 modules.

To enable the source MAC-based VLANs (using files):

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis > Chassis.
  2. Disable GlobalFilterEnable and click Apply.
  3. Enable VlanBySrcMacEnable and click Apply.

To create a source MAC-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens.
  3. In the Basic tab, click Insert.
  4. Change the Type item to bySrcMac.
  5. The dialog box activates additional items needed to set up source MAC-based VLANs.
  6. Type the unique VLAN ID.
  7. Type the VLAN name (optional).
  8. If no name is entered, a default is created.
  9. Select the color (optional).
  10. Device Manager suggests a color, but you can change it.This color is used by VLAN Manager to display the different VLANs in a network
  11. Select the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  12. Change the Type item to bySrcMac.
  13. Specify the port membership by clicking the Static Members ellipsis button.
  14. The VlanStaticMembers dialog box opens.
  15. In the VlanStaticMembers dialog box, click on each port button until the color representing the desired membership color is visable then click OK.
  16. Click the NotAllowedToJoin ellipsis button to specify the port membership not to be allowed in the VLAN.
  17. The VlanNotAllowedToJoin dialog box opens.
  18. In the VlanNotAllowedToJoin dialog boxclick on each port button until the color representing the desired membership color is visable then click OK.
  19. Specify the AgingTime (the timeout period in seconds for aging out the dynamic member ports of the VLAN) or use the default of 600 seconds.
  20. Select the QosLevel (optional).
  21. Type a DsField (optional).
  22. In the VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box click Insert.
  23. In the VLAN dialog box, highlight the newly created VLAN, click Mac, and then click File.
  24. On the Edit Mac VLAN dialog box, click Add From File.
  25. Browse to where your MAC address file is located.
  26. Click Add From File, to add MAC address entries.
  27. Click Save To File, to save the MAC address file, .
  28. Click Delete Members On Device, to delete file entries on the device,.
