Creating a source address MAC-based VLAN

To create a source address MAC-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens.
  3. Click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.
  5. Change the Type field to bySrcMac.
  6. The dialog box changes to display additional fields needed to set up source MAC-based VLANs.
  7. Enter the unique VLAN ID.
  8. Enter the VLAN name (optional).
  9. If no name is entered, the protocol name becomes the default VLAN name.
  10. Enter a color (optional).
  11. Device Manager will suggest a color, but it can be changed.
  12. Type in the spanning tree group ID of the VLAN.
  13. In the Type field, click bySrcMac if not already selected.
  14. Specify the static membership by clicking the ellipsis (...) field.
  15. In the ConstraintType field, click independent or shared.
  16. Click Insert.
  17. The VLAN dialog box opens.
  18. Highlight the BySrcMac field.
  19. Click MAC.
  20. The MAC, VLAN dialog box opens.
  21. Click Insert
  22. The Insert VLAN MAC dialog box opens.
  23. Type the source MAC address for the VLAN.
  24. Click Insert.

  25. Note Note: In a source MAC-based VLAN, a potential member becomes an active member of the VLAN when a frame with the specified source MAC address is received. Source MAC-based VLANs are not supported in a mixed stack environment.
