Editing trap receivers

You can edit how machines will receive SNMP traps by editing the community strings and the SNMP version format.

When Device Manager opens a device, it automatically adds the machine on which it is running to the Trap Receivers list only if the Register for Traps box on the Properties dialog box is checked.

Note Note: If the Trap Receivers tab takes a long time to open, it may be that the IP address of a trap receiver cannot be resolved to a DNS name. By default, Device Manager attempts to resolve IP addresses to DNS names.

To edit how traps will be received:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Chassis.
  2. The chassis dialog box opens with the System tab displayed.
  3. Click on the Trap Receivers tab.
  4. The Trap Receivers tab opens.
