Creating a source IP subnet-based VLAN

To create a source IP subnet-based VLAN:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose VLAN > VLANs.
  2. The VLAN dialog box opens with the Basic tab displayed.
  3. In the Basic tab, click Insert.
  4. The VLAN, Insert Basic dialog box opens.
  5. In the Type field, select byIpSubnet.
  6. The dialog box displays additional fields needed to set up IP subnet-based VLANs.
  7. In the Id field, type the VLAN ID or accept the number automatically assigned.
  8. In the Name field, type the VLAN name (optional).
  9. If no name is entered, a default is created.
  10. In the color field, select the VLAN color (optional).
  11. Device Manager suggests a color, but you can change it.
  12. In the StgId field, select the Spanning Tree Group ID of the VLAN.
  13. In the StaticMembers field, select the ports that are static members of the VLAN.
  14. In the NotAllowToJoin field, select the ports that cannot be part of the IP subnet-based VLAN.
  15. In the SubnetAddr field, type the source IP subnet address.
  16. In the SubnetMask field, type the IP subnet mask.
  17. In the Aging Time field, specify the aging time (the timeout period in seconds for aging out the dynamic member ports of the VLAN) or use the default of 600 seconds.
  18. Click the HighPriority box if you want to tag traffic from this VLAN as high priority.
  19. Click Insert.
  20. In the Basic tab, highlight the newly created VLAN.
  21. Click IP.
  22. The IP VLAN dialog box opens with the IP Address tab displayed.
  23. Click Insert.
  24. The Insert IP Address dialog box opens.
  25. In the IPAddr field, type an IP address.
  26. In the NetMask field, type the mask for routing.
  27. Click Insert.
