Specifying autonomous system boundary routers
Autonomous system boundary routers (ASBRs) advertise non-OSPF routes into OSPF domains so that they are passed along throughout the OSPF routing domain. A router can function as an ASBR if one or more of its interfaces is connected to a non-OSPF network (for example, RIP, BGP, or EGP).
To configure a router as an ASBR:
- From the Device Manager window menu bar, choose IP Routing > OSPF.
| The OSPF dialog box opens with the General tab displayed. |
- In the General tab, select the ASBdrRtrStatus option to designate the router as an ASBR.
| The default is set to disabled. |
- Click Apply.
|
Note:
To conserve resources, you may want to limit the number of ASBRs in your network or to specifically control which routers perform as ASBRs to control traffic flow.
