Manual virtual link
The following procedure shows how to configure a manual virtual link between the ABR in area 2.2.2.2 and the ABR in area 0.0.0.0, as shown in the figure below. This section is under construction.
To manually configure a virtual link:
- From the Device Manager window menu bar, choose IP Routing > OSPF.

- Click the Virtual Interface tab.

- Click Insert.
| The Insert Virtual Interface dialog box opens. |
- In the AreaId text box, type the area ID of the transit area.
| The transit area is the common area between two ABRs. |
- In the Neighbor text box, type the neighbor ID.
| The neighbor ID is the IP router ID of the ABR that the other ABR needs to go through to get to the backbone. |
- Click Insert.
- To verify that the virtual link is active, click Refresh and check the State field.
| If the State field displays "point to point," the virtual link is active. If the State field displays "down," the virtual link is invalid. |
