Link Flap tab

Link flap detection allows the user to set thresholds for the number and frequency of link state changes allowed on a physical port and to take action if the thresholds are exceeded. If the link state change thresholds are exceeded, a log entry is generated.

Use the Link Flap tab to enable or disable the Link Flap Detect feature. When this feature is enabled, it monitors the number of times a port goes down during a certain interval. If the number exceeds a given boundary, the port is forced out of service.

To access the Link Flap tab:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Diagnostics.
  2. The Diagnostics dialog box opens with the Test tab displayed.
  3. Click the Link Flap tab.
  4. The Link Flap tab opens.

The table below describes the Link Flap tab items.
