Configuring IPX

First, use the IPX Global tab in the Device Manager, IPX Routing menu option to globally enable or disable IPX routing. Once IPX routing is enabled, use the VLAN Basic tab in the Device Manager, VLAN menu option to create and manage virtual router interfaces.

To enable or disable IPX routing:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose IPX Routing > IPX.
  2. The IPX dialog box opens with the Globals tab displayed.
  3. Select RoutingEnable.
  4. The default is disabled. When RoutingEnable is selected, IPX NetBIOS (type 20) propagation is enabled. To aid in troubleshooting, you can disable IPX NetBIOS (type 20) propagation on all IPX interfaces in the entire chassis

Note Note: Nortel Networks recommends that IPX NetBIOS propagation be disabled only temporarily; for example, to interrupt a broadcast loop If IPX NetBIOS propagation is permanently disabled, network connectivity may be affected.

  5. Click Apply.

The table below describes the Global tab -- IPX items.
