Setting access policies
The Access Policy feature allows you to control access to the switch by specifying the hosts or networks that can access the switch through various services. In Device Manager, set access policies through the Access Policy tab.
To set an access policy:
- From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Security.

- Click Insert to insert an access policy.

Select to activate the access policy.

Mode
|
Indicates whether to permit or deny access to the device to a packet having a source IP address that matches the entry.

Service
|
Selects the protocol to which you should apply this entry.

Precedence
|
Indicates the precedence of the policy. The lower the number, the higher the precedence ( 1 to 128).
|
NetAddr
|
Source network IP address. An address of 0.0.0.0 specifies any address on the network.

NetMask
|
Source network masks.
|
TrustedHostAddr
|
Trusted IP address of the host performing rlogin or rsh into the device. Applies only to rlogin and rsh.
Note: You cannot use wildcard entries.

TrustedHostUserName
|
User name assigned to the trusted host. Applies only to rlogin and rsh.
Note: You cannot use wildcard entries. The user must log in with the user name to be assigned to the trusted host.

AccessLevel
|
Access level of the trusted host (read-only, read/write, or read/write/all).
|
Usage
|
A usage counter.
|
- Click the PolicyEnable check box.
- In the Service field, select a service.
- In the Mode field, select whether to allow or deny the service.
- In the Precedence field, type a precedence number for the service (lower numbers mean higher precedence).
- In the NetAddr field, type an IP address or range of addresses.
- In the AccessLevel field, select an access level for the service.
- Click Insert.
