RMON statistics

You can use Device Manager's RMON feature to gather and graph Ethernet statistics in a variety of formats, or you can save them to a file and export them into an outside presentation or graphing application.

Note Note: This implementation of RMON requires a "control" row for Ethernet statistics. This control row appears as "port" 0/1 when you choose Rmon > History > Ether Stats Control. The row ID is reserved for the control row. Therefore, some automated tests, such as ANVL, may fail when the test attempts to create a row 1.

To enable RMON statistics on a port basis:

  1. On the device view, right-click on the selected port.
  2. The port submenu opens.
  3. From the submenu, choose Enable Rmon stats.

To verify that RMON statistics are enabled:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Rmon > Control.
  2. The RmonControl dialog box opens with the History tab displayed.
  3. Click the Ether Stats tab.
  4. The Ether Stats tab opens. Note that the default owner displayed is the host name on which Device Manager is running.
