Configuring DVMRP

DVMRP is set on a single port or VLAN. In order for DVMRP parameters to take effect, you must configure DVMRP globally on a device before you configure the interface for DVMRP.

The Port dialog box opens, and the DVMRP tab is displayed.

Use the DVMRP tab to configure physical router interfaces or virtual router interfaces. The DVMRP tab has the same parameters for both ports or VLANs and the parameters function the same. Refer to for descriptions of the DVMRP tab fields.

To open the DVMRP tab, do one of the following:

To configure DVMRP on the interface:

  1. Select Enable.
  2. In the Metric field, type the cost, or maximum number of hops, for DVMRP.
  3. The range is 1 to 31 with a default of 1.
  4. Click Apply.


Field Description
Enable
The administrative status of DVMRP in the router. The default is set to disabled.
Metric
The DVMRP cost. The value must be an integer between 1 to 31.
