Enabling RADIUS authentication

Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) allows the remote RADIUS server rather than the switch to authenticate logins. The RADIUS server also provides access authority. The Passport software supports BaySecure Access Control (BSAC) and the Port Authority RADIUS server.

RADIUS assists network security, authorization and accounting by managing a database of users. Use of the database allows the switch to verify user names and passwords as well as information about the type of service available to the user such as rlogin or Telnet.

The RADIUS software provides the following features:

To enable RADIUS authentication globally:

  1. From the Device Manager menu bar, choose Edit > Security > Radius Global.
  2. In the Radius Global tab, enter the necessary information and click Apply.

Enable
Click on this field to enable or disable RADIUS authentication feature globally.
MaxNumberServer
Enter the maximum number of servers, between 1 and 10, that you want to use.
AttributeValue
Integer value for Access-Priority attribute. The default is 192.
